Packing List

Here is a packing list of the items that you will need for Trek. There are separate lists for Young Women and Young Men. If an item is not on the list, please don't bring it. All items listed are needed so please bring them. Remember, everything must fit in your 5-gallon bucket except your sleeping bag. Sunglasses are allowed.

5 Gallon Bucket

You will need to bring a 5 gallon bucket with you on Trek. Each individual's gear must be able to fit into a 5 gallon bucket with a lid (not including sleeping bag). The bucket serves a number of functions. It allows each trek family to organize and pack their handcarts, protects your gear from rain and dust, and provides a seat for you to sit on.

PLEASE DO NOT BRING

The handcart companies were under strict guidelines as to what they could and could not bring because a handcart is pulled by the traveler. Handcart pioneers were limited to 17 pounds of gear. Pioneers were also focused on leaving out things that detracted from the spirit. Please leave the following items at home: any electronics, cell phones, make-up, jewelry, wallets, toys, candy, junk food, etc. The only exceptions to the above list are health-related and should be noted on your personal medical information form for our medical staff. Cameras should also be left at home. There will be a team of photographers on Trek taking hundreds of pictures, to which you will have access.
