All the essintails like extra cash, and birth certificates need to go in a water safe container. I have made steps to get these items together but I don't feel like a ziplock is good enough to keep them in (for one, it is see through). Where can I find a water proof container that isn't see through and is big enough to hold documents?

I use a PVC pipe with a screw-top fitting one each end.  Plus the zip-lock.  You can get the bits & pieces up to 4" at the hardware stores.  If you go to a professional plumbing supply outfit, you can get sizes quite a bit bigger.  Prices are also quite a bit bigger, but if you run into the right person, they probably have a piece of scrap pipe just long enough for your needs that they will let go for next to nothing provided you pay full-price for the fittings.

I have used a waterproof container from a camping supplies store, the brand is Otterbox. There are less expensive ways to do this though like the above comment about using PVC pipes.

Do any of you store vitamins? If so, how long is the shelf life and how much do you buy?

I buy vitamins for storage, though not an insane amount. When I run out of a bottle I buy two at the store, both are used for storage because I have one that I have been storing. I would suggest making sure that they are kept in a cool dry area. I live in a very hot and humid state and never keep any of my food storage outside. Again, I don't by a ridiculous amount and I rotate often so 2-3 at a time on hand.

My question: what vitamins do you store/use?

I buy a daily multi-vitamin for women, men, and they even ave a daily multi-vitamin for boys and girls (teenagers). I also have those vitamin chews for the little ones. Vitamin C, iron, calcium, and fish oil are some of the vitamins that I have.
